ADMIRAL Consortium Meeting in Rome

Rome, Italy (4-5 June 2025)

The ADMIRAL project consortium gathered for its sixth in-person meeting – this time in the historic and vibrant city of Rome. Over two productive days, ADMIRAL partner organizations from nine EU countries came together to continue their shared mission: transforming the logistics sector towards low-emission, multimodal transport solutions.

 
All roads lead to rome

The first meeting day started with an overview of the current status of teh different workpages wthin the projects. Topics leading from classic management tasks over the stustaibale development of logistics and transports, the development of differnet business models for sustainable transports. A focus was also layed on teh heart peace of the ADMIRAL porject the development of the mulitmodal market place  and the question ofthe overall integration.

After a full day of sessions, participants enjoyed a guided walking tour through ancient Rome — including hidden stories about the Colosseum, Roman emperors, and daily life in antiquity. The evening concluded with a delicious team dinner and informal networking.

 

Deep Dive into the pilots

The second day focused on the heart of the ADMIRAL project: its four pilot initiatives. Each pilot aims to test and refine real-world, scalable solutions across different European contexts:

🟢 “Digital & Green Multimodal Corridor” between Spain and Portugal
🟢 “AI-Based Optimization of Logistics for Sustainability” in Finland
🟢 “Green Route: Emission-Aware Logistics Management” in Lithuania
🟢 “Green Logistics: Optimizing Postal Sustainability Across Borders” between Slovenia and Croatia

In addition to pilot updates, participants took part in a joint impact assessment workshop, as well as sessions on communication, dissemination, and exploitation strategies. Two engaging guest speeches rounded out the afternoon, providing fresh perspectives on the future of logistics and innovation in transport.

Looking Ahead

Future project activities in this year will include the integration of pilot solutions into the ADMIRAL marketplace to amplify its impact for offering easily accessible low-emission transport services, reducing CO2 emissions, offering valuable reporting data, and promoting stakeholder collaboration in logistics and transport.

The insights and progress shared at the Rome meeting mark an important milestone for the ADMIRAL consortium. As the project moves forward, the continued development of pilot solutions and marketplace functionalities will contribute to reshaping the logistics sector with innovative and sustainable transport solutions.

The ADMIRAL project is a three-year EU-funded initiative under the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, running until April 2026. Coordinated by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd., the consortium consists of 21 partners from nine EU countries, all dedicated to revolutionizing freight transport through multimodal logistics solution
